Week Six Overview

Goals for the Week

  • Apply concepts learned throughout the course to a Web page
  • Select an existing Web page to apply what we have learned in the class.  Convert the page using concepts learned during the class.  Page must include:
    • Valid (X)HTML and CSS
    • Consistent styles
    • Liquid design
    • Hyperlink and menu styles
    • Separate print styles
    • Multicolumn layout

  • Week six discussions and exercises cover:
    • Converting (reconstructing) an existing page using CSS
    • Project 1, Converting an Existing Page, Eric Meyer on CSS
  • Application of concepts from the entire class to a final project, which requires conversion of an existing Web page using CSS techniques learned during the first five weeks of the class
  • Peer reviews

Assignments

  • Read the assigned online reading and project 1 from Eric Meyer on CSS
  • Participate in week six discussions
  • Complete the final project, the conversion of an existing Web page, to include:
    • Valid (X)HTML and CSS
    • Consistent styles
    • Liquid design
    • Hyperlink and menu styles
    • Separate print styles
    • Multicolumn layout
  • Provide links to before and after Web pages for final project
  • Do assigned peer reviews
